Prevent Fraud with Device Fingerprinting

Fraud Intelligence Unit (FIU)

FOCAL’s Fraud Intelligence Unit (FIU) specializes in building advanced AI systems to detect and prevent fraud. Using analytics and machine learning, FIU analyzes, visualizes, interprets data and uncovers new fraud patterns that enhance risk signals for more effective detection.

Real-Time Fraud Detection

FOCAL continuously monitors device behavior, detecting anomalies like GPS spoofing, device emulation, or unusual interaction patterns to catch fraudsters in real-time without impacting the user experience.

Multi-Layer Device Profiling

FOCAL leverages deep Device Fingerprinting by analyzing both hardware and software configurations, ensuring a comprehensive profile for every device. This helps in accurately identifying and tracking users associated with specific devices.

Advanced Fraud Network Detection

FOCAL's Device Fingerprinting product includes sophisticated clustering capabilities to uncover hidden fraud rings by linking devices and accounts, even those trying to bypass traditional fraud prevention measures

Block Repeat Fraudulent Devices

Effortlessly flag and permanently block devices tied to recurring fraudulent activity. Once identified, these devices are securely blacklisted, ensuring they can’t be reused for repeat offenses

Anomaly Pattern Detection

Identify unusual patterns in device usage, such as sudden changes in device behavior, multiple accounts linked to a single device, or inconsistent geolocations in real time and proactively prevent potential fraud attempts.

Account Takeover (ATO)

Track unauthorized access to user accounts by identifying suspicious device behavior and recognizing previously used devices. By detecting anomalies in device attributes, Device Fingerprinting stops fraudsters from taking over accounts without impacting genuine user experience.

Jailbroken Devices

Identify devices with compromised security (rooted/jailbroken) to mitigate risks. FOCAL device fingerprinting flags jailbroken devices in real time, enabling proactive fraud prevention and enhanced security.

Multi-Account Abuse

Detect users from bypassing limits on accounts by identifying devices trying to create or access multiple accounts, enabling you to maintain platform integrity and prevent abuse with precise device tracking.

Promo and Coupon Abuse

Identify users attempting to exploit sign-up bonuses or promotional offers by identifying repeat devices even when accounts use different credentials, ensuring fair usage and protecting your marketing spend.

VPN Detection

Automatically collect IP address for each session and detect VPN usage across multiple sessions to flag potential location spoofing attempts

Prevent Account Sharing

Uncover unauthorized account sharing by monitoring device usage patterns linked to an account, identifying multiple devices or sessions indicating shared access.

Device Spoofing

Discover device spoofing by leveraging unique hardware attributes that are hard to fake, ensuring reliable identification and flagging of fraudulent devices across sessions.

Preventing Account Takeover

Device Risk helps prevent account takeovers by identifying fraudulent logins and unusual access patterns.

Digital Banking Security

Digital Banks use Device Risk to block compromised devices and safeguard mobile banking.

Frequently asked questions

What is Device Fingerprinting?

Device Fingerprinting is a comprehensive fraud prevention product that collects device data directly from your customers through SDKs to generate a unique ID that can identify a device.

How does Device Fingerprinting specifically enhance security against account takeovers and fake account creation?

The Device Fingerprinting product strengthens security by generating a unique identifier for each device based on its hardware and software data. This unique device ID is linked to the customer during login. In the event of an account takeover attempt, even if a fraudster obtains the user's credentials and OTP through social engineering, they will be unable to log in from a different device, as the system recognizes the mismatch.

How does the product handle cases of account sharing and subscription abuse?

The product limits the number of devices that can be associated with each account and triggers a rule when the limit is exceeded, assigning a high-risk score to the login or registration attempt. This helps ensure that accounts are used only by authorized users and prevents revenue loss from unauthorized sharing.

What are the technical requirements for integrating the Device Fingerprinting product with our existing systems?

To integrate our Device Fingerprinting SDKs, the following technical requirements must be met:
iOS: The application should be running on iOS version 12 or higher, and it must support Swift 5.7 or above.
Android: The minimum required Android SDK version is 21 (Lollipop).React Native: Please note that we do not currently support integration with React Native Expo.
